India’s singles challenge ended in the first round at the Tata Open Maharashtra on Tuesday, with Ramkumar Ramanathan and Sasikumar Mukund both losing their matches.

Ramkumar lost 3-6, 7-5, 6-3 to Spanish player Pedro Martinez, while Mukund was defeated 6-4, 7-5 by Italian player Flavio Cobolli. Manas Dhamne and Sumit Nagal, who had also received wild card entries, lost their first round matches on Monday.

In the other matches of the day, Tim van Rijthoven of the Netherlands knocked out Radu Albot of Moldova, and eighth seed Aslan Karatsev of Russia made short work of Pablo Andujar.

In an all-Indian match, Jeevan Nedunchezhiyan and Sriram Balaji beat wild card entrants Purav Raja and Divij Sharan.
