During our testing of the Samsung AX46 air purifier, we observed its ability to indicate air quality through a color-coded system. Initially showing a red indicator, suggesting poor air quality in the surrounding area, the purifier swiftly improved the air quality as it operated at full blast. Within approximately 30 minutes, the indicator transitioned from red to yellow and sometimes even green, which is highly commendable.

One noteworthy observation was the presence of dust particles that became visible when sunlight entered the room through the balcony door. These particles gradually moved towards the air purifier, where they were effectively filtered out.

In terms of airflow, the AX46 performed admirably. Its three-way airflow vents ensured quiet and efficient circulation of air. Although airflow cannot be precisely measured, it proved satisfactory depending on the selected speed. Additionally, the well-designed vents rarely faced blockage from nearby objects.

While the purifier generated noticeable noise at full speed, using the Auto mode simplified things, and the dedicated Night mode ensured a peaceful sleep experience with near-silent operation.

The SmartThings app offered significant convenience throughout our usage. By initiating the air purifier remotely before leaving the office, we found it to be a smart and efficient device. The AX46 is compatible with the SmartThings app, which comes pre-installed on Samsung smartphones or can be downloaded from the Google Play Store. The app swiftly detected the air purifier upon launch and facilitated a quick setup process. All that was required was a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connection and some basic room details.

Notably, the SmartThings app allowed for remote control of the air purifier from any location. It provided the option to schedule purifier operations and impressed us with its ability to automatically activate the device when the user was nearby or approaching home. We successfully utilized this feature, which functioned flawlessly. Furthermore, the app offered useful features like Intelligent Care, real-time air quality monitoring, and energy consumption tracking.

The only area where the AX46 fell short was the lack of voice assistant support, including the absence of Bixby. We believe that incorporating compatibility with popular voice assistants like Alexa or Google Assistant would have enhanced its overall appeal.

Overall, the Samsung AX46 air purifier delivered impressive performance, accompanied by the convenience of the SmartThings app. It effectively improved air quality, provided satisfactory airflow, and featured valuable scheduling and automation capabilities. While voice assistant support was absent, the AX46 proved to be a commendable solution for maintaining a clean and healthy indoor environment.
